Recycling Gifts, instead of ReGifting: a more acceptable way to save money for the holidays

Throughout the year, there will always be occasions when it would be appropriate to gift a friend, associate or family. Though re-gifting does not appeal to some, this has been a common practice by quite a number of Filipinos. Many, especially in the economic situation we are in right now, consider re-gifting practical.

However, instead of re-gifting, why not recycle gifts, instead?  Recycling a gift can be more appreciated by the receiver because it involves time, effort & creativity of the giver.

Check out this post for some ideas on ways to recycle gifts & how to make it fun and rewarding.

Gifts that Give More

Christmas is the Season of giving. You give gifts to your loved ones. But there's a way for it not to stop there. Others can still benefit from your gift long after the holidays are over.

How? Well, to get more mileage out of your shopping, you must try the Rotary Club of Makati's Christmas Bazaar. You see, the proceeds generated from this Bazaar, will fund the Rotary Club of Makati's project for the rehabilitation of the recent months' flood victims. This will also support the Club's monthly medical missions, consultation and surgery for eye patients, computer training for out-of-school youth, distribution of books to public schools and libraries throughout the country, & community development project for the entire population of families in shanties near the NAIA terminal.

That's a lot of mileage for the Christmas shopping you will do in half a day.

Now on its 22 nd year, the Rotary Club of Makati's Christmas Bazaar will be held on Sunday, November 08, 2009 at the Renaissance Hotel in Makati (formerly New World Hotel across Greenbelt). From 9am to 6pm, , enjoy an assortment of children's clothes, accessories, Christmas decors, leather goods, toys, stationery, native crafts, linen and even fully-decorated one-of-a-kind Christmas trees while Christmas carols fill the airwaves to help set the mood.

You can also choose to do your charity work directly. A hallmark at every Rotary Club of Makati Christmas Bazaar is the LAST ANGEL'S table where a Christmas tree will be filled with RC Makati “Angels” carrying the names of the indigent children who you can adopt for Christmas. You can select your own Angel, choose a gift and make their Christmas a truly memorable one.

So this holiday season, make the Rotary Club of Makati's Christmas Bazaar you're primary shopping stop and give the gift that keeps giving. Happy holidays!

THE LAST ANGEL TREE

Leaving O'Hare airport last December, I was seated beside a smiling woman in er early 60's. She was bound for Denver , and I, San Francisco . Smartly dressed, she was holding the most beautiful angel doll I have ever seen. It was the perfect conversation opener, and by the time we reached her destination, I had
