The 2010-2011 officers, directors and advisers of the Rotary Club of Makati were sworn into office by His Excellency, Jejomar C. Binay, Vice-President of the Philippines, at a glittering induction ceremony and ball held at The Peninsula Manila on Friday, 9th July 2010 that marked the beginning of the club’s 45th year of service and fellowship. Vice President Binay is a member of RC Makati. Inducted were: Filadelfo “Jun” S. Rojas, Jr., president; PE Renato “Rene” Limjoco, Vice President and Director for Club Administration; Dayal “Dayal” Nandwani, Treasurer; Francis “Francis” Macatulad, Secretary; Javier “Javier” Fernandez de Castro, Asst. Treasurer; Dean “Dean” Velasco, Asst. Treasurer and Director of Vocational Projects; IPP Felix “Felix” B. Amparo, Director, Membership A; Rafael “Ai-Ai” Galvez, Director, Membership B; Ramon “Mon” Diokno, Director, Public Relations; Eduardo “Eddie” Galvez, Director, Educational Projects; Fernando “Ferdie” Ordoveza, Director, Community Projects; Christopher “Toffy” Concepcion, Director, International Projects; Antonio “Tony” Herbosa, Director, RI Programs; Dexter “Drexx” Laggui, Director, The Rotary Foundation; and Francisco “Frank” Chavez adviser on legal matters; and PRID Rafael “Paing” Hechanova; IPDG Isidro “Sid”Garcia, PP Joe Alejandro and PP Juan N. R. Peña, advisers. District Governor Ed Alvarez delivered an inspirational message that carried fulsome praise of RC Makati and its work. PRID Paing Hechanova spoke about “Jun Rojas the Rotarian golfer” who exhibited the traits of a true Rotarian on the golf ------------------------------------------- RC Makati adjudged Most Outstanding Club - Overall in District 3830
Pres. Felix Amparo dutifully went to the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of the RCBC Plaza in Makati in the afternoon of Saturday, the 5th of June, to represent the Rotary Club of Makati at the Recognition & Awards Program (REAP), District 3830’s annual year-end program of recognition, and left with more than an armful of awards, and a heart brimming with joyful pride. REAP, the program said, and reap he did, indeed, brining home a harvest of 20 awards!

PP Fidel Alfonso was tasked to introduce the new president—graduate of LIA-COM from De la Salle University-Manila, with a Masters in Industrial Management from the American University in Washington, D.C. and another Masters in Executive Management from St. John’s University in New York City; he managed for a few years the family construction company that handled road construction in sugar centrals in the Visayas and dike construction in Central and Northern Luzon. Retiring from RCBC after 25 years, he accepted the chairmanship of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) whose mandate was to develop the military bases abandoned by the US. He is credited with having initiated the SCTEX highway project. In his inaugural address, Pres. Jun Rojas called on everyone for support and assistance—the past presidents and past district governors of the club for guidance; the new officers, directors and advisers for commitment; our members for involvement; our Brother and Sister Clubs to work together for Rotary’s causes; and the Rotary Anns for their untiring support. Aside from Rotary dignitaries, the ball was graced by delegations from RC Makati’s matched clubs including 7 Sister Clubs—RC Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia; RC Fukui Ajisai-Japan; RC Hou Kuong-Macau; RC Itako-Japan; RC Kota Kinabalu-Malaysia; RC Metro Kuantan Diraja-Malaysia; and RC Taoyuan-Taiwan; and 11 Brother Clubs—RC Baguio North, RC Balintawak-QC, RC Bay-Laguna, RC Calamba-Laguna, RC Dagupan-Pangasinan, RC Dau-Pampanga, RC Davao, RC Naga-Bicol, RC San Pablo South-Laguna, RC Puerto Princesa-Palawan, and RC Vigan-Ilocos Sur. -------------------------------------------- RC Makati leads R.I. District 3830 relief drive for victims of Typhoon Ondoy
The Rotary Club of Makati is the lead club in the relief drive of R.I. District 3830 for families affected by Typhoon Ondoy. At the helm of the humanitarian effort is Gov. Sid Garcia , a member of RC Makati. The RCM clubhouse at the MRCFI Building in Guadalupe Viejo was made available by the Club to serve as the collection center and command post for the relief operations. As lead club, RC Makati is putting its manpower resources to work. RCM Rotaractors and Interactors have been joining up with the club staffers in receiving, sorting out, and packing relief goods. The secretariat is also coordinating with donor clubs and handling requests from clubs for goods to be distributed to affected communities. In charge of overseeing operations is Dir. Toffy Concepcion , chair of RC Makati's Emergency Relief Committee.
