The Rotary Club of Makati is the lead club in the relief drive of R.I. District 3830 for families affected by Typhoon Ondoy. At the helm of the humanitarian effort is Gov. Sid Garcia , a member of RC Makati. The RCM clubhouse at the MRCFI Building in Guadalupe Viejo was made available by the Club to serve as the collection center and command post for the relief operations. As lead club, RC Makati is putting its manpower resources to work. RCM Rotaractors and Interactors have been joining up with the club staffers in receiving, sorting out, and packing relief goods. The secretariat is also coordinating with donor clubs and handling requests from clubs for goods to be distributed to affected communities. In charge of overseeing operations is Dir. Toffy Concepcion , chair of RC Makati's Emergency Relief Committee. As of Monday, 28 September, nearly 1,100 bags of assorted foodstuff had been distributed to 800 families in 10 areas—Moonwalk, Parañaque; Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig; San Antonio, Parañaque; Kasilawan, Makati; Pateros; Muntinlupa; Sto. Niño Village, Marikina; Rosario, Pasig; and District 2 Moonwalk, Parañaque—by 8 Rotary Clubs in the district—RC Alabang, RC Makati JP Rizal, RC Makati Nielsen, RC Palanyag, RC Parañaque Metro, RC Rizal East RC Rizal Southwest, and RC Taguig South, and two RC Makati staffers. RC Makati Pres. Felix Amparo and the RCM board of directors took a proactive stance early by canceling the regular Tuesday luncheon meeting and diverting the luncheon cost of about P33,000 to the disaster relief campaign. Several RCM members have also responded to the appeal for assistance for the typhoon victims. Cash donations totaling P52K have been pledged by or received from 6 RC Makati members— PRID Paing Hechanova, PP Fred Nassr, PP Sonny Tambunting, Rene Galve, Bruce Newfield and Baby Rotarian Felix Ang .
