RC Makati's 21 st Christmas Bazaar raises about P766,000 for club projects
The Rotary Anns of the Rotary Club of Makati, headed this year by Tere Boyer , made a huge success of the club's 21 st Christmas Bazaar at the Intercon Hotel on the 9 th of November 2008, with net proceeds of P766,795.76 from a gross income of P1,357,571.56 and expenses of P595,780.80. The biggest income contributors were the concessionaires fees of P666,750, Last Angel donations of P147,450 and ticket sales of P401,000, with additional income of P72,370 from the White Elephant corner and P64,000 from donors and sponsors. The biggest expense was venue rental at P430,000. The proceeds will help fund the club's many community and vocational service projects including the Books Across the Seas book distribution project, public schools development project for the training of teachers and principals, supplemental feeding program, Stop TB Program, PGH surgical missions, medical and dental missions, and Gawad Kalinga, among others. The one-day bazaar, which was officially opened by Makati Mayor Jojo Binay and spouse Dr. Ellen Binay, offered up a wide range of top-quality goods by some 120 vendors, to the delight of over 8,000 shoppers who streamed into the Intercon ballroom from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Its success owed to the individual and team efforts of the Anns who put in countless hours of planning, organizing, selling, and meetings that started as early as August, culminating on bazaar day, and, for some committees, extended way beyond November. This year's bazaar committee chairpersons are: First Ann Tere Boyer , overall chairperson; Marilou Alejandro , chairperson, and Terry Tambunting , co-chairperson, Concessionaires Committee; Tessie Amparo , chairperson, and Maureen Soong , co-chair, Advance Ticket Sales; Ed Librea , chair, and Vicky Cantada , co-chair, Finance Committee; Lu Limjoco , chair, and Zeny Floresca, co-chair, Day Ticket Sales; Angela Quila , chair, and Brin Panlilio , co-chair, Last Angel Committee; Tesha Garcia , chair, Chit Marty , co-chair, and Pres. Larry Boyer , adviser, Marshals/Security Committee; Jean Chavez , chair, and Sue Ann Nolido , co-chair, Publicity Committee; Menchit Ordoveza , chair, and Lilibeth Herbosa , co-chair, Entrance/Exit Committee; Jojo Borromeo , chair, and Milette Carlos , co-chair, Raffle & Prizes Committee; Caling Young, chair, and Irene Barcelon , co-chair, White Elephant Committee; Terry Tambunting , chair, and Marilou Alejandro , co-chair, Physical Arrangements Committee; and Pres. Larry Boyer , chairman, Sponsorship Committee. On top of its obvious benefit, what makes the bazaar truly special is the opportunity it offers RCMakati Rotarians and Anns to work as a team for a common objective, in the process cementing the bonds that hold them together as a Rotary family. |
